Wailing tears

Rupert's dawn

Beginning of track 2

The dawn of Rupert's life is represented by a metaphor, an orchestral tuning, with all the nuances of each instrument, duelling with each other until they all reach an impeccable tune. In the background, the pleasant sensations of a breakfast, as if in a sacred ritual.

More about the song

Song composed for Paulo's lyrics. It explores polyrhythm and other elements, such as the lack of formation of specific chords in the passage that is repeated in the introduction, interlude and ending. It was made at a time when my knowledge of harmonizing was still extremely limited, I was practically a boy, but I really liked discovering things on the piano.

This song was once performed at a festival. It was Paulo on percussion, Markus on drums and me on piano. The beginning of the song, in the part without defined chords, Markus and I played, with pen caps, directly on the piano strings. Our intention was to do something that sounded different. Well, I guess it worked: the song was among the last ranked. But it was fun!

"Wailing tears" begins with "Rupert's dawn", using an orchestral tuning as a metaphor, while he is having breakfast.

Lyrics

caminho de lágrimas que escoa pelo vale em ribeiro

gemido soluço, soluço gemido

lamento afinado que cai

como águas em cascata

gotas que despencam pela face

lágrimas tímidas e disfarçadas

meigas, ternas, sinceras, sentimentias

por um mundo que não sabe amar

e também por não ser verdadeiro

o que me deixa conformado

é saber que ele chorou

é saber que ele chorou

e suou sangue também

mas nem por isso deixou

de fazer a vontade do Pai
